OUR PROCESS

1. Apply

The first step in our process, visit our job board or apply page and submit a resume [and cover letter]. To sign up for JOB ALERTS, subscribe using the form at the top of our job board. You can also find About Staffing job postings all across public job boards.

2. Resume Review

Once a resume has been submitted it goes to a recruiter for review. Every resume is reviewed by a human. You will hear from us if you meet the qualifications and skillsets we are looking for. Do not worry if you don’t hear from us right away, we will keep your resume on file as new positions open up every day, and we will contact you when a position fits your qualifications.

3. Phone Screen

If your resume matches the qualifications and skill sets needed, our recruiters will give you a call to further discuss what YOU are looking for; ensuring the opportunity aligns with your goals, aspirations, and desires. If the role matches you, and you match the role, a formal interview will be booked.

4. Online Registration

Once you and the recruiter have scheduled a meeting time, you will be sent an email confirmation with directions/instructions for your interview (whether this is in person or online). There will also be a link in the email labeled “Online Registration” you will be directed to complete this prior to your interview. This will create a candidate profile for you and allow you to highlight your preferences in terms of working location, type of roles, salary expectations, etc.

6. Skill Testing

Depending on the nature of the role that you are seeking; we will send you some skill testing to complete after the interview. This allows our recruiters to gauge your comfortability in certain software/platforms and responsibilities.

7. Reference Checks

We ask for 3 professional references and towards the end of the interview process, we will request permission to contact your references.

8A. Client Interviews

Once your interview process with our internal recruiters has been completed and both you and the recruiter feel good about the opportunity discussed; the recruiter will make the introduction between you and the hiring company. The recruiter will then schedule a meeting where you can meet the team, get a feel for the environment, and gain further understanding of the role and the company you would be working with directly.

(DIRECT HIRE ONLY)

8B. Assignment Offered

Our recruiters get new jobs every day. During your interview, the recruiter may discuss multiple opportunities with you to figure out what you would like to do. If there is a job available that matches what you are seeking, the recruiter can offer that assignment to you right then and get you all set up to work as soon as the next day or week. (Subject to availability)

(TEMPORARY ONLY)

9A. Offer Extended

Upon successful completion of the interview process with the hiring company, the About Staffing recruiters facilitate the extension of a job offer. They work as the middleman, the professional matchmaker; if you will, to ensure that the offer presented meets your expectations and support in negotiations as needed.

(DIRECT HIRE ONLY)

9B. Assignment Accepted

Once you have committed to an assignment, our team will get you set up in our payroll/timesheet system. You will receive an email with all your assignment details, so you know where to go, who to ask for, what to wear, how much you are getting paid, etc.

You will also get a secure email from our payroll department requesting your banking information and submission of tax forms.

(TEMPORARY ONLY)

10A. Offer Accepted

Congrats! You have now accepted your new job and started on the next step of your career. Your new employer will take over walking you through the onboarding process.

(DIRECT HIRE ONLY)

10B. Payment

All casual/temporary/contract employees get paid weekly via direct deposit. Your pay will be directly deposited into your account every Friday for the previous week’s hours worked.

(TEMPORARY ONLY)

Frequently Asked Questions

Do your services cost anything?

No. Our services are always free for job seekers.

How do I stay in touch?

You can sign up to receive job alerts on our job postings page to be updated when new positions arrive.

What have you got to lose? Submit your resume today!

Where do I start?

The first step is to send in your resume. We must review your resume to see if we are currently working on any positions that may be a fit for you. Find out how to do this by clicking on the link Apply.

I've sent in my resume. Now what happens?

Your resume is in the hands of our recruiters. If a recruiter thinks you may be a good fit for one of the positions they are working on, you will be called to discuss further and potentially arrange an interview. This process typically takes 5 to 10 business days after you have sent in your resume. If you do not hear from us, we most likely do not have an available position that is a fit for you at this time. Feel free to apply again or send in an updated resume in the future. However, if a position that matches you arises in the future, and you have previously applied for a role, you may be contacted as your resume is on file.

I have been called by your office for an initial interview. What's next?

We will send you an email confirming your interview time. This email will also contain a link to our online registration form. Please complete this registration form prior to your interview.

What can I expect of this Initial job interview?

This is a formal job interview with one of our recruiters. We want to know why our clients should hire you, and how we can help you achieve your employment goals. Dress professionally and present us with your skills, knowledge, abilities, and other employment-related characteristics. The entire interview process typically takes 15 to 45 minutes. You may be asked to do some program or personality profiling related to the work you are looking for.

I have completed my initial interview. When will I be contacted about a job opportunity?

This will be different for each candidate. At About Staffing, we are all about making the right fit to suit your needs and our clients’ needs. When we think we have a fit for you, we will call you and talk to you about the available position. What we ask of you is that you call us to check in every 1-2 weeks so that we can keep your file up-to-date, and to inform us that you are still looking for work. You can also check the job postings on our website and call us if there are any available positions that you would like to be considered for and inform us you are still looking for work if this is the case.

Can I apply at other agencies and look for jobs on my own?

Yes. We encourage you to actively seek work on your own. We do ask, however, that you let us know if you have found work by other means so that we can deactivate your file.

How do I get a job in Alberta if I am from out of country?

Information on these regulations can be found on the Government of Alberta website here:  https://www.albertacanada.com/WorkingInAlberta_w.pdf

Do I need to have a valid SIN number?

Yes, in order for About Staffing to place you we will need to have all the required information, including your SIN.
