Application Process
Do your services cost anything?
No. Our services are always free for job seekers.
Where do I start?
The first step is to send in your resume and/or fill out an online registration form. We must look at your resume first to see if we have any jobs that may be a fit for you. Find out how to do this by clicking on the link above. If you are interested in more than one position, you do not need to send in more than one resume. Just let us know in the cover letter what you are interested in.
I’ve sent in my resume or filled out an online registration. Now what happens?
Your resume or application is in the hands of our recruiters. Upon reviewing your resume, if we believe we will be able to place you with one of our employers, you will be called to arrange an interview time at our office. This process typically can take up to one week after you have sent in your resume or application. If you are not called, we do not have an available fit for you at that time. Feel free to apply again or send in an updated resume in the future.
I have been called by your office to come in for an initial interview. What can I expect?
This is a formal job interview. We want to know why our employers should hire you! Dress professionally and present us with your skills, knowledge and goals. The entire initial interview process at our office can take an hour to an hour and a half. You will be asked to fill out the registration if you have not done so already. Once this is finished you will interview with the recruiter. After the interview, you will most likely do some testing on programs related to the work you are looking for.
I have done my initial interview and registration at your office. When will I get a call about a job opportunity?
This will be different for everybody. At About Staffing, we are all about making the right fit to suit your needs, and our clients needs. When we think we have a fit for you, we will call you and talk to you about the position. You can also check the job postings on our website and call us if there are any that you would like to be considered for. Call us at 508-1000 in Calgary or 409-8100 in Edmonton to update us on your availability.
Can I apply at other agencies and look for jobs on my own?
Yes. We only ask that you let us know if you have found work by other means so we can inactivate your file.
Payment Process
Temporary Candidates are paid by About Staffing. Direct-Hire candidates are paid directly by the employer and will need to discuss the payment process with the employer.
Temporary Candidates:
When do I get paid?
About Staffing pays candidates weekly. You will be paid on Friday for the previous week’s work.
How do I get paid?
About Staffing uses a third party for our entire payroll processes. In order for you to be paid, we need 2 things from you; your timesheet and your direct deposit information (we only need your direct deposit information once). Your timesheet from the week must be received by SUNDAY AT MIDNIGHT. There are no exceptions as our third party has strict deadlines in order to process the information. It is always a good idea to call to ensure that your timesheet was received even if you have a fax confirmation.
What is direct deposit information?
About Staffing uses a process called EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer). Your pay is directly deposited into your bank account. To complete this process we will need your bank account information, Social Insurance Number, and your date of birth.
How do I send in my direct deposit information?
Direct deposit information forms can be downloaded from our website under Employee Timesheets and Forms. Alternatively, you can pick up the forms from our office, or call us at 508-1000 in Calgary or 409-8100 in Edmonton, and have us fax them to you. Once filled out please fax back to 508-1010 in Calgary, or 409-7349 in Edmonton.
Why didn’t I get paid?
We are missing your timesheet, or your direct deposit information. Or one or both of these were sent in after the deadline – Sunday at midnight.
Why didn’t I get paid for the holiday?
You were not qualified as per Alberta Labour Standards.
